3rd Workshop on Modular Concepts for Assembly and Handling at European Robotics Forum 2020

March 4th 14:00-15:30, Malaga, Spain

3rd Workshop on Modular Concepts for Assembly and Handling

will take place on March 4th 2020 as part of the European Robotics Forum 2020 (3-5 March 2020) in Malaga, Spain.

The objective of the workshop is to continue the discussion on how modular approaches can overcome limitations of solutions based on monolithic robots.

Preliminary Agenda

  • 14:00 - 14:05 Welcome, Introduction

  • 14:05 - 14:15 Recap of state of the discussion

  • 14:15 - 14:45 Presentations

  • 14:45 - 14:55 Discussion of modularity topics in three groups

  • 14:55 - 15:05 Presentation of group results

  • 15:05 - 15:20 Audience discussion

  • 15:25 - 15:30 Summary, Wrap-up, Next steps (work between ERFs)

Call for Contributions

Contributions from academic researchers, companies as well as startups in form of a 10 minute presentation are highly welcome. If you work on new hardware or software solutions that are targeted at solving the automation entry barrier problem, you will likely have something valuable to add in the discussion. A particular focus is set on handling and assembly systems. All three combinations (off-the-shelf hardware + new software, new hardware + off-the-shelf software, new hardware + new software) are of interest.

Apart from proposing novel solutions, the contribution of real-world use cases, requirements and KPIs for flexible modular(?) robotics handling and assembly systems are encouraged.

If you are interested, please send an email with a brief summary of your proposed contribution to bihlmaier@robodev.eu. Slots are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis, i.e. the sooner you send your proposal, the sooner you will receive a confirmation.

The slides will be made available here after the workshop.
